EXPOSURE4 CONTRIBUTOR FAQ's
What Commission do I earn?
We share the purchase price of the clips 50% each. Compared to other stock agencies this is a high percentage. This is because we appreciate the specialist value of the footage and also because we expect exceptional quality. Anyone familiar with shooting for stock knows that it takes time to build revenue from your collection, so we want you to feel you’re making good progress. Once you have built up a large library and are a well established contributor, we expect healthy returns to be made. So tell everyone about the site!
Every clip that is sold on our site is VAT inclusive. This means that the actual amount that you receive per clip will be 50% of the net selling price before VAT. If you are VAT registered please enter your VAT details into our system which will entitle you to claim the full 50% of the clips selling price.
How is the price of content decided?
We operate a pricing policy to keep prices fair amongst contributors and simple for buyers. When uploading content you have the choice to put each individual clip into a price band – A, B or C. These bands are for different standards of footage:
A = Clip you consider rare or extremely specialist as well as perfect shooting conditions - e.g. historical monument, rare bird, rare flower.
B = Clip that you consider to be of a very high standard.
C = Clip that you consider to be of a good standard but not particularly specialist or rare.
We may from time to time advise you on your choice of price banding to ensure best possible sales for you.
Each band will equate to the following amounts depending on clip format:
HD
A - £50
B - £40
C - £30
SD
A – £40
B – £30
C – £20
How do I claim payments for my clips?
Commission Payment is monthly. Payment will be sent to contributors via Bacs bank transfer or by Paypal. Payments will only be processed once the amount exceeds 50GBP. If the contributor has received less than this amount, commission payment will be withheld until the next month that their accumulated total passes 50GBP.
What is the upload process?
Once we have accepted you as a contributor, we will provide you with your own personal upload portal where you can upload, label, keyword and provide any other information for your clips.
You will be asked to upload 2 file formats per clip.
1) The original raw file in an uncompressed format. This will be your Asset File, which you need to label accordingly with format details and dimensions. This will be the clip that is sold.
2) The flash file (flv) of the clip. You will have to convert each of your asset files to an adobe flash video format (flv) prior to upload. This flash video can be uploaded to allow users to view your clip prior to purchase.
It will still be at Exposure4’s discretion as to if the clip gets posted live on the site but if it does match our high standards, we will post it immediately.
How can I check the Progress of my clips?
As above, once we have accepted you as an Exposure4 contributor, you will be provided with your own account area where you can upload your clips, but also check the viewing and selling stats of your clips. You will also be able to edit any descriptions and keywords of your clips to allow more success for the search functions within the site.
What Format should the clips be in?
We accept clips shot on both Pal and NTSC. We prefer High definition footage but will certainly consider any Standard Definition footage depending on its quality. It is your responsibility to label each clip with its format in your contributor upload portal. Clips must be shot on professional broadcast equipment and should be null of any camera operating errors (focus, dirty lens/head/ white balance, exposure etc…).
What Should I shoot?
This entirely depends on YOU the contributor. Exposure4 provide promotion for all sectors of the travel industry. From Tour Operators who want to promote luxury hideaway destinations to charities looking to document cultural and social events of tropical nations. Think about the organisations who use this site to buy footage and shoot accordingly. Look at the existing galleries for ideas and inspiration. If you are preparing a trip, please feel free to get in touch with us to discuss the destination and wanted shots.
How long should the clips be?
Our clips are usually between 5 – 15 seconds in length. Time-lapse clips often last longer whilst action shots can be even shorter. Travel edits are usually fast paced and action packed, so remember this when shooting and editing your clips.
